Oscar Sudi reveals how Ruto, Kindiki and Ichung’wah saved Gachagua from 3 earlier impeachment attempts

By , January 20, 2025

Kapseret Member of Parliament (MP) Oscar Sudi has opened up on three earlier attempts to remove former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from office by impeachment, which failed.

Sudi in a video shared via his official social media accounts on Monday, January 20, 2025, argued that President William Ruto had rejected a first impeachment attempt against Gachagua.

However, the controversial United Democratic Alliance (UDA) lawmaker states that a second impeachment attempt against Gachagua was still hatched months later, but President Ruto still rejected it.

According to Sudi, a third impeachment attempt was still hatched despite the failure of the two first attempts, and it was him, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki who was serving as Interior Cabinet Secretary at the time, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah and several other MPs who intervened to save Gachagua.

Following their intervention, Sudi argues that the impeachment motion was not tabled.

The lawmaker further argues that the main reasons to kick out Gachagua from office were tribalism, his shareholding remarks, and telling lies.

Sudi warns Gachagua

The lawmaker who was responding to Gachagua’s claims that President Ruto used to write to him what to speak to the public, went ahead to warn him against rallying the Mt Kenya people against other Kenyans.

Sudi further argued that the reasons behind Gachagua’s removal from office were personal and that he had made demands that could not be met.

He also dismissed the claims made by Gachagua, and emphasised that the president has not been telling his allies what to speak to the public.

Ati unasema rais alikuwa alikuwa anakuandikia useme uongo? Ata kama ni madharau punfuza,” Sudi says in his video.

Gachagua has accused President Ruto of micromanaging political affairs and scripting speeches for political leaders, in his latest attack at the head of state.

Gachagua, who was impeached late last year through a motion moved by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, made the claims on Sunday, January 19, 2025, during a church service at PCEA Emmanuel Matanya, Waguthiru Parish, in Laikipia County.

He argued that the president often dictated what he should say publicly, including controversial shareholder government remarks.

“Ukiona wabunge wakiongea, Ruto ndio amewatuma.
