By Sharon Atieno, June 20, 2026Siaya Governor James Orengo has thrown his weight behind former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo, praising her as a fearless defender of justice and a strong voice for citizens, as she aligns herself with the Linda Mwananchi movement ahead of her bid for Nairobi Woman Representative.
Orengo’s revelation comes amid speculation that Faith Odhiambo could contest for the senatorial seat.
Speaking on his X account on Saturday, June 20, 2026, Orengo said Odhiambo’s record of standing with Gen Z protesters and peaceful demonstrators reflects the kind of leadership Kenya urgently needs, especially at a time when citizens are demanding greater accountability and respect for constitutional rights.
“Faith Odhiambo is a proven defender of justice whose fearless stand for Gen Z and peaceful protestors showed the true meaning of leadership,” Orengo said.

Backing for Women Leadership and Citizen Advocacy
The governor described Odhiambo’s entry into the Linda Mwananchi movement as a significant boost for women’s leadership and grassroots mobilisation focused on defending ordinary citizens.

He said Nairobi residents deserve leadership that is beyond reproach, stressing that public office must be guided by integrity, fairness and public trust rather than personal or political interests.
