Orengo, Faith Odhiambo depart Nairobi for Trans Nzoia ahead of Linda Mwananchi tour
By Mustafa Juma, July 25, 2026Siaya Governor James Orengo and former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo on Saturday morning departed Nairobi for Trans Nzoia County as the opposition-backed Linda Mwananchi movement kicked off a high-profile political tour of Western Kenya.
Orengo announced his departure in a brief message on his X account on July 25, 2026, posting photographs taken at Wilson Airport before boarding a flight to Kitale.
“Trans Nzoia here we come!” Orengo stated.
The veteran lawyer and governor was accompanied by Faith Odhiambo, media personality Willis Raburu and political strategist Brian Weke.
The Western Kenya tour is expected to culminate in Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s highly anticipated homecoming rally in Bungoma County on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Full day of political engagements
According to the programme released by Linda Mwananchi organisers, the team was scheduled to begin its activities with a stopover at Moi’s Bridge at 10.00 a.m., followed by another public engagement at Sibanga at 11.30 a.m.
The leaders are then expected to address supporters at a major rally in Kitale town beginning at 2.30 p.m., where they are expected to outline the movement’s political agenda ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Sunday’s programme will shift to neighbouring Bungoma County, where Sifuna is expected to headline what organisers have described as his official homecoming.
Strategic Western Kenya push
The Trans Nzoia and Bungoma visits form part of Linda Mwananchi’s ongoing nationwide mobilisation campaign aimed at expanding its support base beyond its traditional strongholds.
The movement has in recent months held political tours across several counties, including Kiambu, Kajiado, Taita Taveta and other regions, positioning itself as one of the fastest-growing opposition platforms ahead of the 2027 polls.
Western Kenya has emerged as a key battleground for both the government and opposition, with various political formations intensifying campaigns to consolidate support in the vote-rich region.
Opposition continues to reorganise
The latest tour comes as Linda Mwananchi continues to market itself, bringing together politicians and professionals advocating what they describe as ‘constitutional governance, accountability and people-centred leadership’.
Its activities have increasingly featured leaders including Orengo, Sifuna, Faith Odhiambo, Suba South MP Caroli Omondi, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza and several other opposition figures.
The Western Kenya mobilisation follows a series of recent statements by Sifuna suggesting that the movement is attracting growing interest from elected leaders across the political divide, with the Nairobi senator claiming that several politicians allied to President William Ruto have privately expressed interest in joining the opposition outfit once the legal window for party defections opens.
