Omanga fuels party speculation after declaring interest in Woman Rep seat

By , February 7, 2026

Former nominated senator Millicent Omanga has come out to fuel party speculations for the 2027 Nairobi Woman Representative bid, as she prepares to make a political comeback.

In a statement posted on her social media accounts on Friday, February 7, 2026, she asked Kenyans which party she should join.

This comes a day after she declared an interest in the Nairobi woman representative position ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Taking it to her X handle on Friday, February 6, 2026, Omanga noted that she has received concerns from the members of the public questioning what position she’s going to vie for in the upcoming general elections.

“Wengi wananiuliza Rada …2027, nitakuwepo Nairobi Women Rep. Na nitakua saana – with my people. Nimewaskia, tuko pamoja!” Omanga wrote.

Loosely translated as, “Many are asking about my plan for 2027. I will be there in the Nairobi woman representative position. I will be there with my people. I have heard you, and we are together.”

Life after 2022 defeat

Omanga has been in the political cold ever since her Waterloo in the 2022 Nairobi Woman Representative bid. This came after she had campaigned vigorously for Kenya Kwanza to clinch power in 2022.

After that, she appeared to be on the periphery, only to later be appointed as the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) for Interior, a position that was later abolished and declared unconstitutional by the courts shortly after she was sworn in.

After a long stay in the cold, she was appointed to head the Nairobi River Water Board, a position she declined. She was later appointed as a board member of the Kenya Shipyards Commission.

Ever since then, she has been taking social media by storm, sparking debates over her continued purchase of opulent, high-end cars that have left Kenyans questioning her source of income, claims she has come out to defend, stating that the proceeds come from her businesses.

This comes at a time when the incumbent Nairobi Woman Representative, Esther Passaris, who defeated Millicent Omanga in the 2022 polls, has vowed that she will not vie again for the same post and had appeared to endorse nominated senator Karen Nyamu for the position, a move she later came out to denounce.
