OKA postpones signing of coalition agreement moments after meeting Moses Kuria

One Kenya Alliance (OKA) has put off the signing of a coalition pact among its members that was set for tomorrow, Monday, February 28.
In a statement to newsrooms, OKA spokesperson Fredrick Okango revealed that they have rescheduled the official unveiling of the OKA coalition and the signing of the Coalition Agreement to accommodate new parties willing to join them.
The alliance which is led by Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Martha Karua (Narc Kenya), Gideon Moi (KANU), and Cyrus Jirongo (UDP), said that they have received several requests from various political parties seeking to join them ahead of the August general elections.
“We continue to receive requests from various political formations that have expressed interest in joining us.
Therefore, in the spirit of inclusivity, we have rescheduled the official unveiling of the OKA coalition as well as the signing of the Coalition Agreement that was scheduled for tomorrow to a later date this week to accommodate our new partners,” OKA said in a statement.
The move by OKA to carry forward the signing of its coalition agreement comes hours after its principals – Kalonzo, Karua, Jirongo and Gideon Moi’s representative – met Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on Sunday afternoon to discuss a possible union.
Kuria said that though he is open to joining OKA, he would only do so if the group doesn’t form a coalition with the Azimio la Umoja movement.
“They invited Chama Cha Kazi and me to join the One Kenya Alliance. Whereas we share many ideals between Chama Cha Kazi and OKA, we agreed to work together as long as OKA is not joining the Azimio Coalition which is incompatible with me and the Chama Cha Kazi Party,” Kuria said.
Kuria further revealed that he and the OKA principals will hold another meeting in the coming days so that they can discuss a possible union.
