One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals began their coastal tour in Taita Taveta yesterday, assuring the public that they will remain united, with a firm resolve to form the next government after the 2022 General Election.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka allayed fears of any possible fall out saying their interests are not bigger than the people of Kenya.

They appeared to counter speculations that some of his colleagues were secretly involved in talks with both Deputy President William Ruto and ODM Raila Odinga to join their political camps ahead of the General Election.

“We have decided that Kenya is more important than our own interests, so come rain come sunshine, we will remain united, so that we can save this country from economic disaster,” said Kalonzo.

On his part Amani National Congress(ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi urged Kenyans to make wise decisions and elect leaders who will revive the deteriorating economy.

Mudavadi, who was speaking in Mwatate on the first day of the coastal tour, told Taita Taveta residents that OKA is the best bet as it had no record of land grabbing in the Coast region.

“We must ensure that the one we are going to put in the office can be trusted. Let us not put people with special interests with the properties of the poor people,” said Mudavadi.

Kanu chairman Gideon Moi said corruption has taken a heavy toll on the country’s economy and asked residents of Taita Taveta to scrutinise leaders before electing them for any position.

He hinted that OKA will extend the delivery of free public education currently being implemented by the Jubilee government.

“If OKA forms the next government, we are going to make public secondary and primary education free, because we are determined to make lives of people better,” he said.

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula said the OKA government will ensure mining royalties benefit local people

Wetang’ula took a swipe at the jubilee government saying it has failed to resolve the land problem in Taita Taveta, because of special interests.

The OKA leaders started their tour at Mwatate junction after landing at Salt licks airstrip, then proceeded to Wundanyi Bus Park and later ended the final rally at Voi town.
