ODM’s Moses Omondi wins Ugunja Constituency by-election
By Francis Muli, November 28, 2025ODM candidate Moses Omondi has won the Ugunja Constituency by-election with a commanding lead, securing 9,227 votes in a race that drew strong interest from across Siaya County.
His closest challenger, Orodi Odhiambo of the Wiper Party, garnered 1,819 votes, while Fredrick Ochiel of UDM came third with 1,200 votes.
Other candidates included Benson Obol Otieno (United Green Movement) with 1,171, Maurice Okumu of Liberal Party Movement (381), Vincent Olengo of Kenya Moja (333), Chris Budo of KANU (188), Lilian Akinyi of the National Alliance Party (182), Erick Ofiro of the Jubilee Party (91) and Oliver Ochieng of the National Liberal Party (56).
Following his win, Moses Omondi thanked voters for their overwhelming support and promised to prioritize development across the constituency.
The Ugunja by-election was among several held across the country, marking an important test for political parties as they position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
ODM’s decisive win is expected to energize the party’s grassroots base in Siaya and beyond.
