ODM women leaders drum up support for Raila’s bid
The Orange party women grassroots leaders from all the 30 wards of Mombasa County have vowed to conduct robust campaign for presidential hopeful Raila Odinga ahead of next year’s elections.
ODM brigade launched the strategies on how to revive the movement and rally more women to join their political bandwagon.
Speaking during the launch, ODM Women’s League president Beth Syengo said her mandate is to ensure women participate in party activities and ensure inclusivity in leadership structures.
They made the announcements during the launch of ODM women league Mombasa chapter dubbed Warembo na Raila where they declared to support Raila’s presidency.
Syengo said Raila had given them the mandate to popularise the party in the region. “I am calling on more women to join the team to campaign for a leader who will cater for our interests,” said Syengo.
ODM women president urged her colleagues to embrace peace and unity to steer peaceful grassroots campaigns.
Likoni MP Mishi Mboko urged the women brigade to stay fi m and desist from being hoodwinked or coerced by Tanga tanga’s Inua Mama Group aligned to Deputy President William Ruto.
Mishi said the ODM women would play an active role in shaping the outcome of 2022 Raila’s election bid.
“Women are critical in next year’s elections. That is why we urge you to stay focused and not to fall for those that have no good intentions for this
country,” Mboko said.
