ODM sets date for Migori county delegates elections

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has scheduled the election of its Migori County delegates for Sunday, March 22, 2026.

In a notice issued by the National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) on Friday, March 13, 2026, the party confirmed that the polls will take place between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm.

The announcement opens the door for eligible branch delegates to contest various leadership positions within the county.

“The National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) will conduct County Delegates elections for Migori County on Sunday, 22 March 2026. Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.,” the statement read in part.

Earlier Election Dates

This comes following the postponement of the county delegates’ elections that had been scheduled for Friday, March 13, 2026.

The party’s National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) chairperson, Emily Awitta, had announced that the elections would not proceed as earlier planned and would instead be held at a later date.

“Pursuant to the notice dated 9th March 2026, the National Elections Coordinating Committee wishes to notify all party members and stakeholders of the following correction: the county delegates elections for Migori County, which had been scheduled for Friday, 13th March 2026, stand postponed until further notice,” the statement read.

She also provided payment details for aspirants to remit their application fees. She informed eligible delegates that they could apply for any positions at the ODM County Offices.

Aspirants looking to secure a seat in the county office are required to pay application fees via the party’s official paybill (985900).

Position’s Fee Structure

Delegates running for non-executive positions will pay Ksh1,000, while women, youth, and people living with disabilities will be required to pay Ksh2,500 to run for special interest seats.

Aspirants running for executive positions other than that of the chairperson will have to part with Ksh5,000 while those seeking to become the chair will pay Ksh10,000.

The fee structure is tiered based on the level of the position.

“Fees payable by Aspirants: Kshs. 1,000.00 for any non-executive positions in the County offices; Kshs. 2,500.00 for women, youth, disability, and special interest representatives in the County offices; Kshs. 5,000.00 for any executive positions at the County offices, other than that of Chairperson; Kshs. 10,000.00 for Chairpersons to the County offices,” the statement read in part.
