The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Oburu Oginga, has urged Kenyans to embrace unity, dialogue, and renewed dedication to national development as the country ushers in the New Year 2026, amid internal wrangles rocking the Orange party.

In his New Year message on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, the Siaya Senator extended warm wishes to Kenyans and their families, describing the new year as a moment for reflection, reconditioning, and recommitment to the nation.

”As we step into the New Year 2026, I extend my pleasant wishes to you and your loved ones. A new year is a time of musing, reconditioning and re-established dedication to Kenya, the nation we love,” the statement read in part.

He noted that 2025 was a challenging year that tested the resilience of the Kenyan people. However, he praised citizens for demonstrating strength through unity, hard work, and unwavering hope for a better future.

”The year 2025 has tried our strength as a people. Yet, time and again, Kenyans proved that our strength lies in our unity, our hard work, and our unbreakable hope for a better tomorrow. From our farmers and traders to our youth, workers, and professionals, you carried the nation forward with courage and determination,” it added.

Looking ahead, the ODM leader said the party is entering 2026 guided by a clear vision of a Kenya that works for all. He emphasised the need for inclusive development, highlighting access to quality education for every child, job creation driven by innovation and industry, fair returns for farmers, and leadership founded on integrity, accountability, and service to the people.

Clear vision

”As the ODM party, we enter this New Year guided by a clear vision: a Kenya that works for all. A Kenya where every child has access to quality education, where jobs are created through innovation and industry, where farmers earn fair returns, and where leadership is anchored on integrity, accountability, and service to the people. The year ahead calls upon us to reject division and embrace dialogue, to choose peace over conflict, and to put the interests of the nation above personal or political gain. Progress is possible when we walk together.” The statement read.

Oburu’s message comes at a moment when ODM is facing its greatest test as members are trading barbs over the direction of the party heading into the 2027 general election.
