Nyamira governor blásts MP Arama for interference

By , April 11, 2023

Nyamira governor Amos Nyaribo has issued a stern warning against politicians from outside the county who he accuses of interfering in local affairs.

Nyaribo singled out the Nakuru Town MP Samwel Arama who he claimed had formed a habit of traversing  the county to discredit his administration. He accused Arama who is believed to be interested in the governorship position of spreading a narrative that his government had failed.

Speaking at Nyamira County Referral Hospital yesterday, Nyaribo dismissed claims by Arama that there were no drugs in the county health institutions forcing the patients to buy from chemists which are operating  near or around the health facilities.

“I want to assure the people of Nyamira county that we have enough drugs in all our health institutions contrary to Arama’s claims . This man is playing politics with the lives of our people “ he state.

“I am told that Arama wants to shift his political base from Nakuru county to Nyamira county to contest for  the gubernatorial seat come  2027 General  Elections  but he should  not use that as an excuse of blackmailing my  leadership and that of my  government “ he warned.

“Let him be told that  Nyamira county has no shortage of leaders  and therefore he should concentrate his politics within his Nakuru county where has failed to perform as an MP,” he added.

Arama who has declared his candidature for the gubernatorial seat in 2027 has accused the Nyaribo-led government of failing to deliver in terms of development despite receiving billions of shillings from the national government.

He  has also been paying school fees for children from poor backgrounds and settling medical bills for poor families ,a move his angered the governor on ground that he was belittling his leadership.

Yesterday Arama said governor had panicked because of the assistance he was giving the people of Nyamira which is his home area.

Separately, area Woman Rep Jerusa Momanyi has declared that she will not defend her seat in the coming election.

She says she will instead run for the governorship of the county. Momanyi, serving her second term said after deep soul searching and serious consultation with the residents of Nyamira county , she had decided to contest for the position of governor  because two men governors who have had  the opportunity lead  by the electorate  had failed.
