Nobody will become Kenya’s president in the next 100 years without mentioning Raila – Caleb Amisi

Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has declared that Raila Odinga’s name will remain central to Kenya’s politics for generations to come, saying no one will ascend to the presidency in the next century without invoking the opposition leader’s legacy.

In a statement shared on X on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, the Saboti MP framed Raila as a towering figure whose influence, ideas, and political struggle have permanently shaped the country’s democratic journey.

Amisi’s remarks come amid renewed public reflection on Raila’s long career, his role in pushing for political reforms, and his place in Kenya’s national story during what could be his 81st birthday celebration.

The legislator compared Raila’s legacy to some of the most enduring political and liberation icons in world history, arguing that such figures continue to define political discourse long after their active years. He suggested that Raila’s name, ideals, and political battles have become a reference point that future leaders will be unable to ignore, regardless of their political persuasion.

Amisi also said he is ready to take up a role in shaping what he described as Kenya’s next chapter.

“For the next 100 years, nobody will become the president of Kenya without the name Raila Odinga in his/her campaign speeches,” he wrote

Amisi went on to placeRaila alongside global figures whose names still dominate political conversations decades after their time. By drawing parallels with leaders associated with civil rights, independence, and liberation movements, he argued that Raila’s impact transcends elections and party politics.

According to him, such figures become symbols of struggle and national conscience, and their stories continue to inspire debate, loyalty, and resistance long after they leave the political stage.

“Just like the Kennedys of the US, Martin Luther King Jr.of the American civil rights movement, just like Nelson Mandela of South Africa, just like Mwalimu Julius Nyerere of Tanzania, just like Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana, just like Thomas Sankara of the land of the upright men,” Amisi wrote

In the same statement, Amisi turned inward, saying he feels personally called to advance a new political phase inspired by Raila’s ideals. He spoke of a future-focused movement aimed at reshaping Kenya’s political and governance culture, presenting it as a continuation rather than a break from the struggles of the past.

“As for me, I shall lead the renaissance movement you told me to start that will transition Kenya to a new republic, ” he wrote
