Ngunjiri Wambugu: I will ditch Jubilee if Uhuru reconciles with Gachagua
By Mabonga Makhanu, November 7, 2025Former Nyeri Town Member of Parliament Ngunjiri Wambugu has declared that he would immediately leave the Jubilee Party if former President Uhuru Kenyatta were to reconcile and work with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
In a statement posted on his socials on Friday, November 7, 2025, Wambugu, who has been a vocal supporter of Uhuru and a consistent critic of Gachagua, made it clear that he would not participate in any political arrangement that involved the former deputy president.
He expressed his firm stand against Gachagua’s style of politics, saying he would not be part of a team that embraced such conduct, even if it meant distancing himself from Uhuru and the party.

“If Uhuru were to work with Gachagua, I would leave Jubilee immediately. I can’t operate in the politics I have seen Gachagua do, even for Uhuru. So if they got into bed, I would disassociate myself with Uhuru & Jubilee.” Ngunjiri stated
These come after the former president cautioned the party members against insulting members of the United Opposition, including the former deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, saying that they will be thrown out of Jubilee.
Uhuru pointed fingers at his secretary general, Jeremiah Kioni, telling him to stop insulting the former deputy president.

Defying Uhuru’s order
Ngunjiri Wambugu, on the heels of these instructions from the party leader, vowed to continue with his criticism against Gachagua despite Uhuru’s order.
While acknowledging the directive from the former Head of State warning party members against insulting other leaders, especially the former deputy president, he said that he has taken note of the instruction but vowed to continue criticising him as he always has, though without insults.

According to him, at no point has he ever insulted Rigathi Gachagua; he has only used his platforms to expose the truth about the former DP without any form of disrespect.
“Bazuu amesema watu should not insult others. Especially if you are in Jubilee. Utatheca nja. That’s in order. On our part we will keep exposing Gachagua, without insults. As we have always done.” Wambugu said.
