Ngogoyo faults govt over recent teargassing of DCP leaders
By Joel Masibo, August 5, 2025Kajiado North Member of Parliament Onesmus Ngogoyo has faulted President William Ruto’s administration following the recent attacks on Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leaders.
Speaking on K24 TV on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, he condemned what he termed as state-sponsored brutality, particularly in response to public dissent and peaceful gatherings. He cited recent incidents where security forces allegedly used excessive force to suppress demonstrations.
“The State has decided that any dissenting voice must be met by police brutality. You throw tear gas and disrupt a meeting in the centre of Gilgil town, where there are women and children, and you maim individuals for no apparent reason,” he said, expressing deep concern over human rights violations.

One-term President
Further, Onesmus Ngogoyo has openly declared that President William Ruto will not secure a second term in office.
Speaking on the Amka Kenya breakfast show on K24 TV on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Ngogoyo cited growing discontent within the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and increasing public rejection of his administration.
The lawmaker delivered a scathing critique of the current leadership, distancing himself from the government despite being elected on a UDA ticket.
“We still insist that President Ruto is a one-term President. We are elected through the UDA party, but we do not agree on what it is doing presently. We did not agree with the abductions or the intolerant state officers,” he said, referencing the recent wave of controversial arrests and alleged disappearances of anti-government voices.
Ngogoyo went further to paint a grim picture of the political climate under President Ruto’s leadership, pointing to an unprecedented level of rebellion and frustration among the public.
“The definition of madness is doing something consistently and expecting different results. William Ruto is the only president who has been publicly rejected by the people. He is facing rebellion that has not been seen before,” Ngogoyo noted, describing the current atmosphere as politically unsustainable.
Ngogoyo’s remarks add to a growing list of dissenting voices within the UDA and the Kenya Kwanza alliance, many of whom have raised alarm over the government’s response to public demonstrations and the current economic hardships affecting ordinary Kenyans.
Meanwhile, ahead of the highly anticipated 2027 general elections, political leaders from both factions of the ruling party and the opposition are taking strategic positions heading into the particular polls.
