Ngilu blasts Senator Wambua, asks him to quit running-mate panel

By , May 9, 2022

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has told area senator Enoch Wambua to quit as a member of Azimio’s presidential running-mate panel without unnecessary sabotage and noise.

Ngilu accused Wambua of being possessed with hate and malicious campaigns against her since she took over county leadership in 2017.

She claimed the senator was playing dirty and working in cahoots with former senator David Musila who is seeking to oust her in the August 9 General Election, and the Wiper Party at large, to sow discontent in Azimio and paint a negative picture about her.

Speaking at the weekend at Kanguu trading centre in Kenze sub-location in Kitui East when she issued 4,502 land title deeds to residents, the governor described the senator as a “useless and terrible” leader with self-centered interests aimed at denying Azimio’s presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga victory at the presidency.

Wambua is quoted threatening to quit the seven-member panel to pick the Azimio presidential running mate after Ngilu’s name was included among the nominees to deputise Raila.

The senator claimed the governor’s name was stealthily sneaked into the shortlist of seven candidates. He said seven names were unanimously picked during Friday´s sitting but Ngilu´s name was later included on the shortlist.

Wambua who spoke at his Kyondoni home village in Kitui West said he would rather exit the panel instead of allowing underhand deals and behind the scene maneuvers that are not in realm with the mandates of the team.

However, Ngilu told the senator and her critics that she was not an easy political soup to gulp and told him to shut up.

She wondered why Wambua and Musila were teaming up with the Wiper Party fratenity to stop her from deputising Raila in the countdown to the forthcoming elections.

Ngilu sought to explain that when she took over reigns of the county’s leadership in 2017, she vowed to bring lasting change to the social-economic welfare of Kitui people using her five-pillar development agenda.

The Narc Party leader said she will not bow to intimidation, threats or blackmail orchestrated by a few bent elements opposed to development.
