A few days ago, Deputy President William Ruto created a storm after he claimed that there was a plan among a few individuals to interfere with the August 9 election results.

Speaking at Loyola University last week, Ruto said that the said people were seeking to consolidate their interests under a certain presidential aspirant and resorted to manipulating Kenyans’ decision.

“The only concern Kenyans have is the intrusion by agencies that try to manipulate decisions of people at different levels. The good thing is that the People of Kenya have resisted any attempts at subverting their will,” Ruto said.

Days after making the allegations, Ruto has now come out to express his confidence that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will conduct an election process that is free from manipulations.

Speaking in the UK where he is currently on a three-day tour, Ruto changed tune and heaped praise on IEBC saying it will conduct a credible election but only if it is properly funded and gets enough support from international organizations.

“I want to commit that we will work and deploy every resource within our ability to make sure that the election is free, fair and peaceful.

“We have confidence in the IEBC that they can deliver a credible election if they are properly resourced and supported both by the government and our development partners,” Ruto said.

In a previous meeting, DP Ruto had also asserted that he will win the presidency in the coming elections further noting that nobody can steal his victory.

“If you look at me properly, I am not the type that anybody can steal their votes from. It is not possible,” Ruto said as quoted by Nation.

“Let me give you my word that this election will not be stolen and I have full confidence in our electoral processes,” he added.

He further noted that his rivals were not a threat to his votes noting that the opponents can only cause violence in the country.
