Ndia MP dismisses rigging claims in Mbeere North by-election

By , November 30, 2025

Ndia Member of Parliament (MP) George Kariuki has strongly criticised opposition leaders for claiming that the Mbeere North by-election was rigged, saying the allegations are mere excuses from losers unwilling to accept the people’s verdict.

Speaking on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at St. Faith ACK Mutinu Church in Ndia, Kariuki urged the opposition to honestly evaluate where they went wrong instead of creating stories after being defeated. He insisted that anyone with genuine concerns should follow the legal route and challenge the results in court.

“If you believe there was a problem, go to court. Stop misleading Kenyans with false claims just because you lost,” Kariuki said.

He praised Mbeere North MP-elect Leo Wamuthende, saying his victory reflected the clear will of the people, who voted to remain aligned with the government to secure development.

“The people of Mbeere North spoke loudly and clearly. They want development, and they chose a leader who is working with the government,” he stated.

According to him, residents were fully aware of ongoing government programmes and projects across the country, an awareness he believes contributed significantly to the ruling side’s win in the by-election.

Warns Mt Kenya residents

The legislator also cautioned Mt. Kenya residents against being swayed by leaders claiming the region has enough votes to single-handedly make a president. He emphasised that national unity remains essential, arguing that Mt. Kenya alone cannot deliver a presidency without support from other regions.

“No region can make a president alone. We need unity, partnerships and national support,” he warned.

Kariuki urged the region to reject divisive politics that may deny them development opportunities, warning that leaders who mislead communities for personal gain only sabotage future benefits.

“Let us not follow leaders who thrive on division. They only block development for our people,” he said.

He emphasised that the 2027 General Election will mirror the Mbeere North outcome, expressing confidence that the government will secure an even larger margin due to what he termed growing public trust in its development agenda.

“2027 will be even clearer. Kenyans have seen the work the government is doing, and the support will only grow,” Kariuki added.
