Ndegwa Njiru warns Kenyans: Brace yourselves for more lies from Ruto

By , February 6, 2026

Advocate Ndegwa Njiru, who is an ally of the former deputy president and Democracy for the Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua, has urged Kenyans to be ready for a new set of lies from the head of state, President Ruto, as the country prepares for general elections in 2027.

Taking to his X handle on Friday, February 6, 2026, Njiru has told Kenyans that President Ruto is an architect of the problems that Kenyans are facing and that they should not fall for the lies that he tells when addressing the people.

“Fellow Kenyans, the architect of our suffering cannot be the solution. Let us not suffer from selective amnesia. The man who set the house on fire cannot return holding a jerrycan and call himself a firefighter,” Ndegwa said.

Njiru has further stated that President Ruto is the root cause of the challenges that Kenyans are currently undergoing. He has accused the head of state of orchestrating the poor state of the economy in the country and later appearing to fix it.

“Ruto manufactured a crisis, one after the other, and then suddenly, he now wants applause for pretending to fix the very mess he authored. My people, brace yourselves for more deception between now and 2027. Expect a temporarily propped-up economy. While at it, remember that a thief returning your phone doesn’t make him honest,” he added.

Opposition labells Ruto a liar

The critics of the Ruto administration, however, have been accusing him of making empty promises, describing his commitments as political gimmicks rather than actionable development plans.

Members of the United Opposition, led by the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, have been accusing William Ruto of delivering promises that are never fulfilled. They have been opposed to the developments of the Kenya Kwanza administration, terming them as not viable.

Speaking during the Nyota fund disbursement programme in Kilifi County on Thursday, February 5, 2026, Ruto called out the members of the opposition for tainting him as a liar, insisting that he is committed to changing the country a step at a time because he is committed to taking the country forward.

“Some were saying that Ruto is a liar. Are you here today or not? Is this a lie, too? I don’t know whether you can understand me. So, I want to tell you because there are people without a vision, a plan, and an agenda. They have comedy, hatred, tribalism and discrimination as their trademark. We are going to change Kenya by the will of God,” Ruto said.
