Natembeya to be installed as Western region spokesperson in grand Bumula ceremony
By Kiprono Keileb, October 22, 2025Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya is set to be crowned as the spokesperson for the Western region following a meeting with elders from Bungoma County.
In a statement posted on his official X account on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Natembeya said he hosted a delegation of respected elders drawn from all constituencies of Bungoma County who visited him to discuss matters of leadership, unity, and the region’s development.
“Today, I had the honour of hosting a delegation of esteemed elders representing all constituencies of Bungoma County,” Natembeya said.

He described the engagement as warm and deeply reflective, noting that the discussion centred on the economic transformation and political direction of the county and the wider Western region. “Our engagement was cordial and deeply reflective, focusing on the economic transformation and political trajectory of our great county,” he said.
According to Natembeya, the elders, speaking with one voice, unanimously agreed to formally introduce him as the spokesperson for Bungoma County and the greater Western region. He said the invitation was not just symbolic, but a recognition of the need for renewed unity and direction in the region’s politics.
“In their collective wisdom, the elders extended an invitation for me to be formally introduced as the spokesperson for Bungoma County and, by extension, the greater Western region, a responsibility I humbly accepted,” Natembeya stated.
The governor said the coronation ceremony will take place in Bumula, Bungoma County, marking a historic moment in the region’s leadership. “The coronation ceremony is scheduled to take place in Bumula,” he said.

The move by the elders is expected to stir political conversations across the Western region, long seen as a key swing bloc in national politics. For years, leaders from the area have sought a unified political voice capable of championing the region’s interests at the national level.
Natembeya’s acceptance of the role, as endorsed by the elders, signals his growing influence in Western Kenya’s political landscape, one built on a message of transformation, integrity, and collective progress.
As preparations for the Bumula coronation begin, all eyes will be on how this new chapter shapes the region’s political and development agenda moving forward.
