Natembeya laments govt involvement after attacks on his convoy in Kabuchai
By Luke Oluoch, November 22, 2025The Trans Nzoia governor has blamed President William Ruto’s government for orchestrating his political predicaments following violent attacks to his convoy in Bungoma County
The governor made the remarks after his convoy was attacked by bullets while campaigning in Kabuchai, Bungoma County, on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
The violent incident also saw the house of Kabuchai MP Majimbo Kalasinga vandalised by goons.
He wondered how such a barbaric incident could take place under the government’s watch.
Persecuting me
“This government has been persecuting me for a while now. They know if our people get enlightened, Kenya will never be the same again,” he asserted.
“I have been a regional commissioner, and I know in whose hands guns and bullets should be. I’m wondering, as leaders who have the right to assemble while campaigning, do we still have a country? These attacks mean Kenya has no government at all,” he said.
Natembeya declared that the violent attack on his convoy would not deter him from his quest to liberate the Western Kenya region from decades of political manipulation.
Undeterred
The leader, who has been advocating alternative leadership through his Tawe movement in the larger western region, vowed to intensify efforts to deliver the region from leadership that he says has long held residents hostage.
He faulted the leadership of Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula, the principals from the western region in the Kenya Kwanza government.

“Hatutatapangwa huu wakati. Tutajipanga wenyewe kuanzia tarehe 27 na kura ya Eric Wekesa.
“Viongozi wetu, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia na Spika wameambia president eti awachie watu wa western. mnakubali io maneno kweli?” He posed.
The attacks on Natembeya’s convoy happened on Saturday as the DAP-K deputy leader led an entourage to campaign for Chwele-Kabuchai MCA aspirant, Erick Wekesa.
His remarks follow after Musalia Mudavadi warned the governor that his political actions would face consequences ahead of the 2027 elections.
Ndugu yetu, anatoka kule Trans Nzoia. Anakuja hapa anasema, anasema maneno anasema. Nataka nimwaambie, ukiwa kwa nyumba ambayo ina vioo, madirisha ya vioo, usirushe mawe. Kwa sababu pia wewe unaishi kwa nyumba ya vioo,” he said.
“Tukifika 2027, sisi tuna vijana tayari watasimama governor Trans Nzoia. Nakwaambia, utatembea tu Trans Nzoia. Tutakupangia, kwa sababu sisi pia ni wanasiasa.Usifikiri ati unazunguka hapa, we shall have candidates. Tutakuzungusha, na watakung’oa. We are politicians.”
