Mwaura defends Ruto, calls on Kenyans to give govt time
Government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura has come to President William Ruto’s defense amid mounting criticism from opposition leaders, insisting that the president is delivering on his promises.
Addressing the media at Harambee Annex in Nairobi on Friday, April 3, 2026, Mwaura rejected claims that only specific leaders could unite the country, urging Kenyans to give the administration time to fully implement its agenda.
“We want to say this and very clearly and categorically as a government. Let them give his excellency President William Ruto the time to deliver on his promises to Kenyans. He has already done a lot,” Mwaura said.

Mwaura argued that despite the challenges inherited after the 2022 general elections, President Ruto has achieved more in his first three years than any of his predecessors.
Attack on opposition
“No other president has done as much within 3 years than him, considering where we took this country from, you know, after the 2022 general elections. The truth of the matter is, the president keeps his word. He is very committed,” Mwaura said.
The remarks come in response to critics questioning the government’s performance.

Mwaura pointed out that some opposition figures, who position themselves as alternatives, are former government officials seemingly nostalgic for their time in office.
Key projects
He highlighted ongoing development projects, including the construction of the first-ever stadium in Wajir since independence, where this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations will be held. He also cited new roads, a terminal, and a runway aimed at opening up the region for business.
He also pointed to new road projects and upgrades to a terminal and runway aimed at boosting business and economic growth in the region.

Mwaura further noted that the rollout of a new Information Management System for pensions, set to take effect on May 1, 2026, will benefit over 100,000 pensioners nationwide.
According to Mwaura, these initiatives show that the administration is focused on delivery and tangible development outcomes rather than political rhetoric.
