Muthama denounces reports of ditching UDA for Wiper Party
Former chairperson of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Johnson Muthama has debunked claims that he has shifted his allegiance to support the Wiper Party led by Kalonzo Musyoka.
In a statement on Thursday, June 20, 24, Muthama, currently serving as Commissioner of the Parliamentary Service Commission, denounced reports that he had joined the Wiper Party.
While defending his stance, Muthama asserted that he is not planning to ditch UDA for the Wiper Party.
“I understand lies are being peddled that I’ve rejoined the Wiper Party but as a principled person, I am in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to stay,” he affirmed.
This is after the former Machakos Senator joined Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka in reprimanding President William Ruto for relegating Kambas to peripheral roles in his government.
“The Kamba Community has been vilified. I formed the UDA Party which went which went on to win the elections and form the government but there’s no single Kamba where the national cake is being shared,” Muthama stated during the burial of the former Cabinet Minister Joseph Konzollo’s wife in Makueni County which was also attended by Kalonzo.
His sentiments sent signals of a possible fallout and plans to decamp from the ruling party. However, Muthama has come out to clear the air over his next political move.
Muthama unceremoniously left Wiper Party in 2017 and proceeded to form UDA Party which catapulted President William Ruto to power.
After leaving the party, the former Machakos Senator played a critical role in popularising the UDA Party.
“What business do I still have in wiper? I have no business being in Wiper. I will ensure William Ruto becomes the 5th president of Kenya. And for the record, I am not being expelled from Wiper, I vomited Wiper in 2017, excuse me,” he stated at the height of the 2022 General Elections.
“I am working round the clock to team up with Ruto to ensure that he is elected. We can only meet with Ruto to discuss serious issues.”
I understand lies are being peddled that I’ve rejoined Wiper Party but as a principled person, I am in United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to stay. We will meet to champion unity of the community devoid of political parties.

Muthama on Kamaba unity
Despite setting the record straight, Muthama vowed to champion the unity of the Kamba region. He argued that the unity calls would be pushed without leaning on political affiliations.
“We will meet to champion unity of the community devoid of political parties,” he announced.
The region is pushing Kalonzo Musyoka to take instruments of power from former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who is primed to take over as the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).
Kalonzo has also been angling himself to succeed Raila by being at the forefront in calling out the current regime.
