Mugambi Imanyara calls for vote guarding to stop 2027 electoral theft
The Devolution Empowerment Party (DEP), also known as the MBUs party, has called for Kenyans to take action against electoral theft during the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Saturday, November 29, 2025, Secretary General Mugambi Imanyara decried the widespread incidences of voter manipulation during the recently concluded by-elections in the Mbeere North constituency, where UDA’s Leonard Wa Muthende was declared the winner.
Imanyara opined that he witnessed the mischief firsthand in the polling centre he was in charge of.
“I was here myself and saw what happened. I know we won. I was in charge of a polling station where fewer than 100 votes were cast, but in the end over 350 votes were cast for a candidate that you all know,” he stated.
The official acknowledged the need to deal with future cases of voter malpractices in the country.
He opined that voters should remain at their respective polling stations and guard their votes and only leave after ascertaining the results of their democratic exercise.
“In all fairness, there was a lot of injustice, but next time I urge people to cast their votes and not to go home. We have to vote and wait outside until the votes are counted and know where they have come from,” he stated.

His remarks come after political commentator Brrack Muluka also cast aspersions on the conduct of the mini-polls in the Malava Constituency.
Speaking on Friday, November 28, 2025, Muluka, a former ally of Musalia Mudavadi and a former official in his now defunct Amani National Congress (ANC), revealed his reservations with the entire process that declared David Ndakwa the victor.
Muluka described the process as a theatre of unfortunate drama.
“We saw all manner of irregularities in the polls. I happen to come from Kisa East, which is in Khwisero. Therefore, my home has been the theatre of the unfortunate drama.
“The outcome is as good as the means. The end must pre-exist with the means. I am concerned about the means and the end of it,” he stated.
