Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has sent a fervent appeal to those still having doubts regarding the union between Raila Odinga and President William Ruto to end their concerns.

Mudavadi, who has been a staunch advocate of President Ruto’s reelection, made the remarks on Monday, August 11, 2025, during a function in Funyula Constituency, Busia County.

He asserted that with Raila’s joining Ruto, the signal is all clear for Kenyan Kwanza’s extended tenure in government.

Do not doubt

“I want to tell those who are still doubting. Do not doubt any more. Raila has united with Ruto. And we are also there, me and others. Going ahead, the road is all set. So let us not doubt,” he challenged.

While revealing various development projects in the region, Mudavadi stated that the region, which voted overwhelmingly for ODM’s Raila Odinga, should place itself in a strategic position to benefit from the government projects.

“Here in Busia, ODM is the most dominant outfit, and now ODM is working with the government under Ruto’s UDA in Kenya Kwanza. We are united so that we can deliver for the people of Kenya. We came here asking for votes, but you floored us. However, we want all people here to benefit from this government,” he stated.

Wetang’ula challenge to ODM figures

His sentiments come a day after National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula also implores the section of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders to join their party leader in affirming allegiance to Ruto.

Wetang’ula, while referencing Raila’s endorsement of the Kenya Kwanza government during an address at Pheobe Asiyo’s burial, urged those yet to make up their minds about the president to now take a bold stance on the president’s side.

“Echoing ODM leader Raila Odinga’s pledge to back President William Ruto beyond 2027, I urged undecided ODM leaders to rally behind his second-term bid,” he stated.

In what was a recent endorsement of his broad-based pact with Ruto, Raila issued a fervent appeal to those clamouring for Ruto to serve only one term, urging them to grant the broad-based government sufficient space to fulfil its mandate and to withhold judgement until the 2027 General Election.

“I wish to urge the broad-based government’s detractors to grant us the room we require and to reserve their verdicts for 2027. We have made it clear that this broad-based government will remain in place until the 2027 elections, after which we shall chart the path forward,” Raila declared with conviction.

He underscored that it is the sovereign will of the Kenyan people that will ultimately determine the duration of any leader’s tenure, expressing unwavering confidence that when the time comes, the government will stand before the electorate with transparency, laying bare its achievements and future aspirations.
