MP turns down Wetang’ula overtures, vows to defy party wave
Bumula MP Jack Wamboka has vowed that he is not ready to join the Ford Kenya party, despite the pressure mounting on him to jump ship. Wamboka claimed that there have been several calls for him to join the party but he prefers to remain in his DAP-K
While speaking at Netima primary school during a constituency football tournament, the MP also revealed that his firm stance has resulted in Ford Kenya, led by National Assembly speaker Moses Wetang’ula, camping in the area to undermine his leadership.
Wetang’ula is the leader of Ford Kenya.
“They are now using their resources decampaigning me because I refused to join their party,” an adamant Wamboka said.
The lawmaker urged the Ford Kenya chief to mentor young upcoming politicians instead of suppressing them whenever they prove to be popular.
Political intrigue
“In other regions, young politicians are being nurtured but in Bungoma county, any upcoming politician is always suppressed by old guards,” regretted Wamboka.
The first-time MP asked Wetang’ula to show Bumula’s electorate what he had done for them as a national speaker instead of coming up with political projects to dislogde him from the seat.
The MP said the 30 per cent agreement that Ford Kenya and ANC (Amani National Congress, Musalia Mudavadi’s party) signed had not borne any fruit but whenever they remind him (Wetang’ula) then they become his enemies.
“Bumula has not got any political appointment in president William Ruto government but when I complain then I become your enemy,” he said.
Wamboka vowed that he will not be coerced to join the Ford Kenya and will keep on championing for the interest of his Bumula people by demanding their 30 per cent share in everything including recruitment of security officers.
Wetang’ula has endorsed former area MP Mwambu Mabonga to take on Wamboka in 2027 elections.
