MP Kalasinga: Wetang’ula shows no remorse after supporters vandalised my property

Kabuchai Member of Parliament (MP) Majimbo Kalasinga has called out National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula for showing no remorse or apology after his supporters stormed his properties in Chwele and vandalised them.

While speaking in his constituency in Sikusi on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, while campaigning for his candidate, Erick Wekesa, in the Chwele Kabuchai by-election, the MP, who was brought to the political scene by the Ford Kenya party leader, blasted the Speaker for remaining silent after his supporters stormed his restaurant and destroyed his property.

He said that when Wetang’ula recently visited the constituency, he thought the Speaker would address the issue and even apologise on behalf of the rowdy youth, who took advantage of their political feud and targeted his business.

He went on to state that he still respects and admires Wetang’ula as his political father, even at times when they are not aligned politically, saying that he will never disparage or insult him but will not follow him blindly.

“I will always respect Moses Wetangula; there is no day that I will insult him. I even recently thought that he would apologise for what his supporters did to my business, but he didn’t,” Kalasinga said.

Kalasinga-Wetangula feud

Their feud largely emanates from Kalasinga’s political stance, wherein in 2023 and 2024 he went against the party’s position and voted against the Finance Bill.

He vowed not to relent in his rejection of punitive bills and laws that negatively impact the Kenyan populace, saying that should such bills arise, he will continue to vote “no” to reject them.

This comes at a time when the Speaker is entangled in a political feud with his defiant area MP.

In the past, the Speaker has warned Kalasinga that nobody who opposes him gets reelected in the region, citing the likes of Ford Kenya rebels such as former Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, former Tongaren MP Eseli Simiyu, former Kanduyi MP Wafula Wamunyinyi, and other leaders.

Chwele kabuchai ward by-elections

This has prompted Kalasinga to front his candidate, Erick Wekesa, who is vying on an independent ticket against Moses Wetang’ula’s Ford Kenya candidate, Vincent Maunda, with Kalasinga testing his political influence against Wetang’ula.

Wetang’ula, on his side, while speaking recently in the constituency, expressed regret for having supported and voted for Majimbo Kalasinga in the 2021 area by-election after the death of area MP James Mukwe and again in 2022. He accused the MP of being disrespectful, saying that his move to test political muscles against him will have consequences.
