Days after Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi gave out an explosive statement regarding his son’s abduction ordeal, mixed reactions and opinions have continued to dominate the political space.

Some political players accused the CS of breaking ranks with his boss while others opined that Muturi used the abduction ordeal to set a political narrative to help him shape his next move.

Speaking on K24 TV‘s New Dawn show on Monday, January 20, 2025, Mbeere North Member of Parliament Geoffrey Ruku, a close ally to the now underfire CS set the record straight on some of the contentious issues raised regarding Muturi.

Ruku told K24 presenter Joel Chacha that CS Muturi had not expressed intentions to go for the top seat against his current boss President William Ruto.

He termed the reports as rumours insisting that Muturi was focused on his Public Service docket.

Further, MP Geoffrey Ruku ruled out reports that CS Muturi was angling himself for the Embu gubernatorial seat.

“Justin Muturi Biden is not interested in becoming Governor of Embu. He can be interested in becoming the President of the Republic of Kenya… he has not declared anything like that,” Geoffrey Ruku stated during the morning show.

Ties with Gachagua

At the same time, MP Geoffrey Ruku dispelled reports that CS Muturi was seeking to forge alliances with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Ruku explained that reports that CS Muturi was in discussions with Gachagua came out after he was pictured together with a member of parliament who is a close ally to the former DP.

Besides ruling out discussions with Gachagua, MP Geoffrey Ruku also denied reports that the Democratic Party had been sold to Gachagua.

“I can speak from a position of authority that JB Muturi is the Cabinet Secretary of Public Service. It is not true that he is having any kind of discussions with Riggy-G,” Ruku asserted.

“It is not true also that the Democratic Party has been sold to anybody. Democratic Party is intact and I am a member of the party. So let those who are peddling rumours about the Democratic Party and that there is a discussion between renegade Riggy-G… there is nothing like that.”

Impeachment calls

With some lawmakers calling for the ouster of JB Muturi following his statement, Ruku insisted that members of parliament had no time to carry out the said impeachment exercise.
