MP backs Mudavadi, Wetang’ula unity drive

Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka yesterday supported calls for the unity of the Luhya community.
Aseka said the community would achieve a lot if it speaks in one voice.

“We are a family and must learn to walk together despite our different political affiliations. We should make good use of our numbers,” he added.

The legislator pointed out that while he is a member of the Azimio la Umoja coalition, he had no problem working with fellow leaders allied to Kenya Kwanza as long as it benefits his constituents and community.
He spoke at Shiongo Catholic Church in his Constituency during a public participation forum presided over by Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa.

Aseka said the unity efforts should, however, be geared towards benefiting the community, not just a few individuals.

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula led renewed efforts to unite the community when they attended a thanksgiving prayer service-cum-fundraiser in Shinyalu on Sunday.

At the fundraiser, Mudavadi and Wetang’ula said it is important for Western region to embrace unity of purpose to foster development.

“Musalia and I have resolved to unite for the good of our people. Musalia uses his strengths to buttress my weaknesses and vice-versa. Our unity as the Mulembe Nation must happen,” said Wetang’ula.
Mudavadi dismissed claims of rivalries between him and Wetang’ula and blamed them on their political detractors.

During the public participation forum, Barasa announced that the county government would establish a second Level-IV hospital in Khwisero.

He praised the MP over, what he said, was his robust development initiatives in the constituency, especially in roads, security and education sectors.
