MP Arama: Though I’m in Jubilee, Ol Kalou is a DCP vs UDA race
Nakuru West Member of Parliament Samuel Arama has dismissed the ongoing campaigns ahead of the Ol Kalou by-election, saying that although he is a member of the Jubilee Party, the contest is effectively a two-horse race between the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Speaking during an interview with a popular Nakuru podcaster on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the outspoken legislator said Jubilee’s candidate is likely to finish a distant third in the mini-poll, which is scheduled for July 16, 2026.

“I am a Jubilee member, but what I know is Ol Kalou is a two-horse race between UDA and DCP,” Arama said.
Arama, a National Executive Council (NEC) Jubilee Party member, went on to praise the DCP, saying the seat is likely to be won by the party’s candidate, Samuel Waweru Kamau. According to him, most residents of Ol Kalou are rallying behind the DCP candidate, giving him an advantage over his rivals.
The remarks come after the United Opposition principals hinted at fielding a single candidate in the Ol Kalou by-election to face the government’s UDA candidate, Samuel Muchina, instead of splitting the opposition vote. The leaders announced that they would rely on a scientific opinion poll to determine the most popular candidate to carry the opposition banner.
Linda Mwananchi backs United Opposition

“So that you know, as Linda Mwananchi, we don’t want to go there and take sides, yeah, but if there’s one person from the opposition, it’s easy; we will go and campaign for that person, and I’m very sure we will win Ol Kalou,” Caroli said
He specifically urged the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), the Jubilee Party, Martha Karua’s People’s Liberation Party (PLP) and Caleb Amisi’s People’s Renaissance Movement (PRM) to engage in consultations and agree on a consensus candidate.
Malala’s remarks
DCP Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala later claimed in an interview that the Jubilee Party had withdrawn its candidate and agreed to support Samuel Waweru Kamau in the by-election.
