MP Amisi gives Gachagua, Kalonzo and Karua tips on how to defeat Ruto

By , March 4, 2025

Saboti constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has given the political outfit led by People’s Liberation Party (PLP) party leader Martha Karua, former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and Democratic Action Party (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa some of the tips they should apply if they want to defeat President William Ruto in 2027.

According to the lawmaker, the said opposition leaders should stop conducting boardroom meetings and hit the ground.

Amisi argues that the team should crisscross the country and do at least three rallies within a period of one month.

Amisi on rally venues

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker suggested Tononoka ground in Mombasa, Bukhungu stadium in Kakamega, Suswa grounds, and a stadium in Nyeri as some of the venues the opposition leaders should start with.

He further claimed that Gachagua and his team can be sure of defeating Ruto if they conduct more rallies, but when the number of meetings they attend is more than the crowd they address, then there is a big problem.

“Now, from this meeting, go straight to Tononoka Ground in Mombasa, Bukhungu Stadium, and Suswa Grounds, and I can join you in Nyeri Stadium. If you do this within a month, Ruto will not just go home, but he will kneel down and beg for forgiveness. But if the number of meetings you attend is more than the crowd you address, then there is a big problem. I see a sponsor sitted at the corner; mobilization money should now not be an issue. I am on your side, so take my comments with the seriousness they deserve! Kenya needs a renaissance,” Amisi stated.

Karua’s new role

Amisi’s comments came hours after the opposition leaders held a meeting in which Karua assumed the role of a convener in their push for unity.

A statement shared by Gachagua revealed that Karua officially took over the role of convener on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.

As the convener, Karua will be responsible for calling meetings, managing speakers, and organizing events for the opposition faction, which is making elaborate plans to endorse one candidate to take on President Ruto in the 2027 polls.

As part of her first assignment, Karua facilitated the meeting, which brought together Gachagua, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and Democratic Action Party-Kenya (DAP-K) Eugene Wamalwa.

Businessman Jimi Wanjigi and lawyer cum activist Kebaso Morara were also present during the meeting. Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka, who endorsed former CS Fred Matiang’i’s presidential candidacy, was also present during the meeting.
