Former CS Moses Kuria has called on leaders from the Mt Kenya region to remain united and make strategic decisions that will safeguard the region’s political influence while accelerating development and economic opportunities.

Writing on X on Saturday, July 4, 2026, after attending the Mt Kenya Leaders Caucus Dinner that took place on Friday, July 3, 2026, Kuria said the meeting provided an opportunity for leaders to hold candid discussions on the future of the region and the priorities needed to improve the lives of residents.

He emphasised that the region must carefully evaluate its political and development choices to protect its voice, strengthen its bargaining power, and secure more jobs, investment and opportunities for the people.

“We must carefully consider the choices that will protect our voice, strengthen our bargaining power and deliver more development, jobs and opportunities for our people,” Kuria said.

The leaders also reviewed the progress of ongoing government projects in Ol Kalou, where developments valued at more than Ksh10 billion are currently underway. Kuria noted that the projects reflect the government’s commitment to transforming infrastructure and public services in the area.

He said discussions focused on adopting a new development approach that places communities at the centre of planning and implementation. Under the proposed model, government projects will be aligned more closely with the priorities identified by residents to ensure public investments deliver meaningful and lasting benefits.

According to Kuria, development should be guided by the real needs of the people rather than predetermined agendas, adding that such an approach would maximise the impact of public resources.

He further urged leaders to ensure that every decision they make advances the interests of the people and creates a stronger foundation for future generations.

Kuria concluded by stressing the importance of unity among Mt. Kenya leaders, saying a united region would be better positioned to negotiate for development and achieve sustainable prosperity.

“When we stand together and speak with one voice, we put our community in the best position to achieve lasting progress and shared prosperity,” he said.
