Morara narrates what transpired in near-fist-fight confrontation with Borabu MP

By , July 1, 2026

Jubilee Party’s new entrant, Morara Kebaso, has spoken about the politics of goons in the constituency as he escalates his political fight with the current Borabu MP, Patrick Kibagendi Osero.

Morara spoke during a local radio interview on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

During the interview, he said political intimidation in rural areas is easier to trace because the people involved are known within the community.

Morara Kebaso speaks on goons

“What I like about our goons, the goons that are there in Borabu are known. You see, hapa Nairobi, these urban centres, goons can attack, and you will not know who did it and who sent them.

“But in the village, everybody is known. You can say that one looks like Morara wa kina boma ya kebaso. You know all of them, including their houses,” Morara said.

Morara said he has been moving with security officers and praised them for acting professionally even during tense political moments.

“I have had security agents all through. They are professional, and they do not behave like goons. They escalate situations, and they do not act when they are not supposed to do,” he said.

What transpired in Borabu

He then revisited a recent confrontation involving the current Borabu MP, Patrick Kibagendi Osero, saying the situation almost escalated after the MP and his bodyguard moved towards him during a public event.

“The only place we almost got into a problem was when the MP for Borabu tried to snatch the microphone from me.

“I turned to the side, and then his bodyguard rushed in to snatch the microphone, and when my security pushed them, they drew their guns, and we did not draw ours,” Morara said.

“The MP Kibagendi might not have been sober because even after taking the microphone, the MP did not say anything to clear his name,” he added.

By the time of publication, the Borabu MP Patrick Osero had not responded to Morara’s latest remarks. This story will be updated if and when a response is received.

CDF contracts fight

Morara also turned his focus to the management of public funds in Borabu, especially projects funded through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund.

“The companies doing CDF contracts belong to the CDF Committee Chairperson and Secretary. They allocate tenders to themselves and pay themselves without doing the work,” Morara said.

He did not present supporting documents during the interview.

By the time of publication, the Borabu CDF committee chairperson and secretary had not responded to the remarks. This story will be updated if and when they respond.

Jubilee shift

Morara’s remarks come just days after he confirmed that he had shifted his political energy from his INJECT Party to the Jubilee Party.

The move places him in the camp associated with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who has emerged as Jubilee’s key presidential figure ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Morara said INJECT Party would remain inactive for now as he focuses on the political realities of Borabu and the larger Gusii region.

“Inject Party will now take a back seat and remain on the shelf for a while,” he said.

“It makes more sense to be in Jubilee because it’s Matiang’i’s party, and he is the most popular leader in the area where I’ll be running,” Morara added.

His decision gives the Borabu race a sharper national angle, linking a local parliamentary contest to Jubilee’s wider 2027 strategy and Matiang’i’s growing influence in the Gusii region.
