INJECT party leader Morara Kebaso has raised alarm over Kenya’s economic and political trajectory, warning that the true state of the economy under President William Ruto will only become apparent in 2028.

Speaking in a statement posted on X on Thursday, November 13, 2025, Kebaso said the president may appear very nice and gentle between now and 2027, but predicted a drastic shift in the following year.

“President William Ruto will be very nice and gentle between now and 2027. But in 2028, he will be very dangerous. The truth about the economy will come out around that time. It will flash before our eyes that our shilling exchange was not Ksh130 against the dollar; it was being artificially managed,” he said, highlighting concerns over currency misrepresentation.

Kebaso also pointed to the country’s debt levels.

“We will realise that our debt is far beyond Ksh14 trillion and not 12 trillion because new debt was being hidden from the books. The true picture of the collapse of our economy and privatisation of national assets will become clear,” he stated

INJECT Party leader cautioned that any public outcry could be met with strong resistance.

“At that time, you will try to rise in protest, but he will be ready and waiting this time with nothing to lose,” he warned, while expressing concern over the quality of political leadership. “Unfortunately, we will still elect poor quality MPs judging by the forerunning candidates in the current by-elections,” he added

Kebaso described the current moment as a missed opportunity for national reform.

“We lost an opportunity to change our country and will pay dearly in the future. We will be very lucky if he hands over power in 2032. Extremely lucky,” he said.

He also predicted alliances between former officials and the current government. “These formerly corrupt individuals who are now in the opposition will do a handshake deal with Ruto in 2028. Watch and see,” he stated

Kebaso concluded by highlighting the challenge of voter behaviour, pointing to persistent tribal loyalty despite economic realities.

“Unfortunately, the majority of the voters are illiterate. Even if you explain this to them, they are still loyal to their tribes even with zero benefit,” he stated

This statement comes amid ongoing debates on Kenya’s economic management and the quality of political leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections, raising concerns over both fiscal transparency and governance.
