Morara Kebaso unveils first bill he plans to sponsor if elected Borabu MP
By Mabonga Makhanu, July 1, 2026Political activist Morara Kebaso has unveiled the first bill he intends to sponsor if elected as the Borabu member of Parliament in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a local radio interview on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Kebaso said he plans to be active both in his constituency and in Parliament, adding that he already has his first legislative proposal ready.
“The Members of Parliament who are coming in 2027 should prepare for my first bill. I already know my first motion. I will propose a Protection of Local Industries Bill,” Kebaso said.

He explained that the proposed legislation would seek to protect local industries by reducing the country’s dependence on imports, particularly from Asia.
“I want to bring a bill in Parliament to protect local industries and begin reducing the quota of imports from Asia. Things like the importation of clothes should be stopped. Let them be manufactured in Kenya. Let cotton be planted in Kenya so that clothes can be produced locally,” he said.
Morara’s agenda
Kebaso argued that promoting local manufacturing would create jobs, strengthen the economy and reduce Kenya’s reliance on imported goods.
The Borabu parliamentary hopeful also vowed to be an active legislator if elected, insisting that his presence in the National Assembly would be felt.
“You will not look for me in Parliament and miss me. My presence in Parliament will be synonymous. I am going to be a firebrand politician. I will be the one pushing for bills and motions,” Kebaso added.
Morara ditches INJECT Party

The surprise declaration marks a significant shift for Kebaso, who rose to national prominence during the 2024 Gen Z protests and later launched the Injection of National Justice, Economic and Civic Transformation (INJECT) Party as a youth-driven political movement.
He defended his move, saying political realities in Nyamira County and the larger Gusii region had informed his decision to join the party associated with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who is the current Jubilee deputy party leader and 2027 presidential flag-bearer.
“INJECT Party itakaa kwa Kabati; kwa saa hizi tunafanya kazi na chama cha Dr Fred Matiang’i, Jubilee Party. Yes, I have joined the Jubilee Party; we have to go with the realities of the politics of the day,” Kebaso said.
