Nyali Member of Parliament Mohammed Ali, famously known as Jicho Pevu, has dared Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho to a political contest as he joined the official opposition campaigns on Monday, November 24, 2025, in Magarini, Kilifi County.

Speaking after accompanying Wiper Leader in Magarini to campaign for Stanley Kenga on Monday, November 24, 2025, the former journalist took aim at the former Mombasa governor.

Tread carefully

“I want to put those leaders who insult other leaders on notice. I heard Joho insulting Kalonzo. I want him to leave Kalonzo and Gachagua alone. He should tread carefully and face me,” he told Joho.

Ali, who recently refuted rumours of agreeing to a political alliance to support Governor Abdulswamad Nassir’s reelection bid, stated that he was ready to lead the opposition fight for better governance in the region.

“I promise him that I will be the one leading the war right here from Lamu to his home in Lungalunga.”

The MP elected on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket in the 2022 election recently hogged the headlines after being spotted in a meeting with Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua.

Ali shared a photo of himself with the two on Saturday, October 4, 2025, fueling speculation that he was plotting a move to the outfit.

Political watchers believe Ali is positioning himself for the 2027 Mombasa gubernatorial race, though it remains unclear whether he will run under UDA, the United Opposition, or as an independent.

Speaking on his presence at the meeting, Kalonzo hailed the youthful leader as the best man suited to fight cartels and corruption in the region alongside Magarini’s DCP parliamentary candidate Stanley Kenga.

“The likes of Joho, Mung’aro, and Nassir are now experiencing butterflies in their stomachs after seeing Jicho Pevu here. These are the fearless leaders we are mentoring to take over leadership.” he stated.
