Millie Odhiambo praises Edwin Sifuna’s attitude during recent ODM meeting
Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo has revealed the conduct of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna during a recent Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) meeting, saying that the Secretary-General was purely reconciliatory.
Speaking in an interview aired on Sunday, January 11, 2026, two days after the meeting, which brought together a section of ODM leaders, most of whom had been opposed to the party’s political direction,
Millie Odhiambo said that the Nairobi Senator, who has been vocal and often trading blows with some ODM leaders, had softened his stance, was very calm, and focused purely on reconciliation.

She further stated that the positive development was that, prior to the meeting, Sifuna had already expressed his willingness to soften his recent positions and engage in dialogue with those he had been critical of. She noted that Sifuna had also met with the party leader, Oburu Odinga, and the spouse of Raila Odinga, Mama Ida Odinga.
According to Millie, the meeting captured Sifuna in a calm and composed state, emphasising unity within the Orange Party, where he has served as Secretary-General for the past 10 years.
“By the time we met Senator Sifuna, he had already met the party leader and Mama Haida. He was a very reconciliatory senator and secretary-general. He didn’t make any hardline statements; he was focused on unity and reconciliation,” Millie added.
Sifuna’s conduct
She went on to state that during the meeting, which Sifuna himself had described as a “sit-and-talk” session, he reiterated the same position he had expressed previously, possibly during former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s birthday celebrations in Karen, affirming his readiness to dialogue and reconcile with the leaders he had openly condemned.

“He reiterated exactly the same things he had said before when he met Mama. He emphasised that, no matter how much they may have exchanged jabs, he was willing to sit at the table with members and talk,” Millie said.
Millie Odhiambo also revealed that the meeting was meant to foster peace and unity within the ODM party and was not a secret gathering since it was held in an open place at the Nairobi View hotel.
