Churchill comedian Jasper Muthomi popularly known as MC Jessy has withdrawn from South Imenti parliamentary contest.

The comedian will now support Mwiti Kathaara of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to capture the seat.

The deal was brokered by Deputy President William Ruto who met the two in his Karen office on Wednesday.

“MC Jessy (Jasper Muthomi) will join the presidential campaign team after postponing his parliamentary bid in favour of Mwiti Kathaara for the South Imenti seat,” Ruto wrote on his social media platforms.

MC Jessy now joins a list of UDA aspirants who have withdrawn from the race days before the nomination exercise slated for April 14.

Others are Karen Nyamu, Lucheli, and musician Rufftone who were vying for Nairobi senate seat but they stepped down for former Starehe MP Margret Wanjiru.

Wanjiru was to vie for Nairobi governor seat before being asked to step down in favour of Johnsone Sakaja who intends to capture the seat on UDA ticket in the August 9 poll.

Several other UDA aspirants countrywide have stepped down for ‘stronger’ candidates.
