Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i has stepped up his political activities ahead of the 2027 General Election, holding a high-level engagement with Jubilee Party aspirants from Nairobi County as the party sharpens its electoral strategy.

Matiang’i’s growing visibility within Jubilee signals an early attempt to reorganise the party’s grassroots base while positioning himself as a central figure in Kenya’s evolving political contest.

The meeting, held at the party headquarters in Nairobi, brought together aspirants drawn from various constituencies, with discussions centred on grassroots mobilisation, internal democracy, and issue-based politics.

The engagement comes as the party positions itself for what is expected to be a highly competitive election season.

In a statement on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Matiang’i said the session was aimed at strengthening organisational readiness and reinforcing discipline among aspirants.

“This morning, I held a productive engagement with Jubilee Party aspirants… as we continue strengthening our preparations for the 2027 General Election,” he wrote on X.

“I encouraged them to remain focused, connected to the people, and committed to issue-based leadership.”

Matiang’i also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to internal democracy, stating that Jubilee Party would conduct free, fair, and transparent nominations, anchored in strong grassroots participation and democratic values.

He further emphasised that the party’s long-term goal is to build an inclusive political structure that prioritises wananchi at every level.

“We are building a party that listens, includes, and empowers wananchi at every level,” he said.

Grassroot mobilization

In what signals an intensified campaign approach, Matiang’I unveiled a more aggressive mobilisation strategy that will focus on ward-level organisation and direct voter engagement.

The party’s campaign machinery will prioritise structured grassroots networks, including door-to-door outreach, as it seeks to consolidate support ahead of the polls.

He dismissed claims questioning his political experience, insisting he is fully prepared for the demands of national politics.

“I am not in a hurry. I did not leave my job at the World Bank to come and look for votes casually,” he remarked, stressing discipline and systematic planning in his political approach.

This even as the opposition continues to deliberate on a single presidential flagbearer to contest against President William Ruto, who is also keen to cement his reelection bid.
