Maraga urges Samburu residents to vote for leaders who understand their priorities
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, February 13, 2026Presidential hopeful and former Chief Justice David Maraga has urged the residents of Samburu County to consider electing leaders who can identify their most pressing needs on a priority basis.
In a statement on his X handle on Friday, February 13, 2026, Maraga stated that during his caravan dubbed “Ukatiba Caravan”, he urged the residents of Samburu to elect leaders who will address their most pressing needs of water and drought.
“The Ukatiba Caravan’s first stop today finds us in conversation with our Samburu brothers and sisters at Archer’s Post. This is yet one of the areas facing drought and security issues.
“If you recall, it’s also the place where the local Samburu East MP faced a backlash over erecting his own statue at a school, all while the people struggle to get water and secure the simple human dignities we owe each other and are enshrined in our Constitution. The power of the vote is your weapon. Vote for leaders who understand priorities,” Maraga’s statement read.

In a video shared on the handle, Maraga has also told the people of Samburu that development is not a favour but rather it is the proceeds of the taxes they pay as citizens, and they should demand that leaders bring development to them. He has urged the residents to consider his bid for the presidential elections and has promised not to steal from the people while in government.
The former Chief Justice and presidential hopeful, David Maraga, has been going to different counties on a drive dubbed ‘Ukatiba Caravan’, encouraging residents to register as voters ahead of the next elections in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
