Manyora: Sifuna has more votes than United Opposition leaders

By , July 8, 2026

Political analyst Herman Manyora has opined that Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is the most popular politician within the United Opposition, arguing that no other leader in the coalition commands a larger support base.

Speaking during his daily political analysis on his YouTube channel on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the communications professor said that if all the coalition’s top leaders were asked to “table their votes”, Sifuna would outperform the rest by a significant margin.

“If the United opposition principals were told to put their votes on the table, none of them has the votes Edwin Sifuna has, as we speak,” Manyora stated.

Manyora further argued that the Mulembe region, which he said has long yearned to produce Kenya’s president, is now ripe for the country’s top seat. According to him, the 2027 General Election could mark a paradigm shift, with politicians from other regions competing for the deputy president position while Sifuna flies the opposition’s presidential flag.

The political analyst also dismissed remarks by former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, who recently suggested that Sifuna should instead be considered for the running mate position.

Manyora said Malala, who serves as the deputy party leader of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), does not speak for the Mulembe region. He maintained that the region’s aspiration is not the deputy presidency but the presidency itself.

His remarks come just days after a section of leaders allied to Sifuna, led by Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, endorsed the Nairobi senator for the presidency during a political gathering.

Natembeya backs Sifuna

Natembeya declared that the Mulembe region would rally behind Sifuna’s 2027 presidential bid, adding that leaders would traverse all 38 constituencies in Western Kenya to mobilise support for “their son”.

The governor further revealed that a new political party is in the offing and will be used by the region to back the Linda Mwananchi team leader’s quest for the presidency in 2027.
