Manyora predicts a possible Kenyatta family return to the presidency

Political analyst Herman Manyora has predicted that a member of the Kenyatta family could be elected president in the future.

While speaking during his daily analysis aired on Saturday, May 9, 2026, Manyora stated that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta is not the last member of the First Family to occupy the State House, emphasising that another Kenyatta is on the way and could rise to the presidency.

“What I am 100 per cent sure of is that Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta is not the last Kenyatta to be in the Statehouse; another Kenyatta will go to the stateHouse.”

Manyora, who in the past stated that Muhoho Kenyatta’s presidential ambitions are not far-fetched, maintained that despite the “hustler” and “dynasty” narratives, a Kenyatta could still emerge to take over power.

Uhuru’s involvement in Politics

This comes at a time when the retired president has been actively participating in political activities, something that has attracted criticism from the government side, with some politicians allied to President William Ruto threatening to scrap his retirement benefits.

Uhuru himself has defended his involvement in political affairs, stating that he has a right to freedom of expression and should be allowed to continue his political engagements.

He cited the United States, where leaders such as Barack Obama continue to support their parties even after leaving office.

However, several leaders from both the government and the opposition have come out to defend the former president against the attacks.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has led the defence, stating that the move by Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei is dead on arrival, as the retirement benefits of a former head of state are entrenched in the Constitution and would require a referendum to scrap them and cannot be removed through a simple motion.

He was seconded by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo, who termed the move by Cherargei a waste of time.

Muhoho Kenyatta

This also follows his younger brother Muhoho Kenyatta’s appearance at a Jubilee Party event held in Narok, which was a homecoming for the party’s secretary general, Montalel Ole Kenta.

Former Nyeri MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, despite being critical of the party’s recent activities, praised Muhoho’s involvement in party affairs.
