Manyora: If Linda Mwananchi’s Kisumu rally succeeds, it will send strong message in Nyanza
By Mabonga Makhanu, April 26, 2026Political analyst Herman Manyora has stated that a successful Linda Mwananchi rally in Kisumu could send a powerful message across the entire lakeside region.
Speaking during his daily analysis on Saturday, April 25, 2026, the outspoken analyst claimed that this is precisely why there are attempts to stop the rally from taking place, with warnings being directed at the Linda Mwananchi principals that the Kisumu rally will not happen.
“The message a successful Kisumu rally will send can’t be contemplated by the other side; the reality of a well-attended Kisumu rally can’t be fathomed.”
He went on to argue that the rival Linda Ground faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) cannot fathom the reality of a successful, well-attended Linda Mwananchi rally in Kisumu.
According to him, if the event turns out to be massive, it would amount to a vote of no confidence in the team led by Oburu Odinga, signalling that the Nyanza region is firmly behind Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna.
“A successful rally in Kisumu will spill over to other counties within the Nyanza region; you can imagine the impact the Linda Mwananchi rally will have should it be successful amid threats and intimidation.”
He added that such an outcome would suggest that Sifuna’s faction carries the spirit of the late Raila Odinga.
Manyora further noted that the impact of a successful rally could spill over into neighbouring counties such as Homa Bay, Migori, and Siaya, strengthening the group’s influence as they move into those regions for subsequent engagements.
“After holding a successful rally in Kisumu, nothing will stop them from descending on Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, and Homa Bay,” he explained.
Atandi’s claims
This comes amid warnings directed at the Linda Mwananchi team by Alego Usonga MP Sam Atandi, who has insisted that the rally will neither be successful nor take place.
“First of all, it will not happen, so there is nothing that will make the rally successful. The rally can only happen if the people of that area are interested in it.”
Atandi further stated that the Linda Mwananchi team plans to import youths from various universities around Kisumu to attend their highly publicised event, as he believes the people of Kisumu are not interested in the rally.
