Malala laughs off at Ruto’s plan to clip Gachagua’s political wings

Democratic Citizens Party (DCP) Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala has mocked President William Ruto over his failed attempts to end Rigathi Gachagua’s political career.

Speaking in Kariobangi North on Sunday, November 30, 2025, Malala laughed off claims that the former Deputy President would be “finished and done with” after he was unceremoniously removed from office through impeachment.

Gaining political clout

“When President Ruto decided to oust Gachagua—the very man who helped him rise to the presidency—he claimed Gachagua would be completely finished,” he said.

According to Malala, Ruto’s ploy was nipped in the bud as Gachagua continues to gain more clout, as evidenced by his DCP party’s success in recent by-elections conducted across the country.

“A year down the line, Gachagua is now more powerful than he was before. They said he couldn’t even manage a party or win anything. I now want to ask President Ruto: is Kariobangi North or Kisii East in Mt. Kenya?” Malala posed, referring to DCP’s victories in the recent by-elections.

“This party is a nationwide movement with representation across the entire country,” he added.

His remarks come after an entourage of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) officials on Sunday, November 30, 2025, joined the Kariobangi North Member of County Assembly-elect, David Warui, in his Thanksgiving ceremony following his election as the new MCA.

Gachagua prides in DCP performance

The ward slot was among the three wards the party won in addition to the Narok Township ward, where Douglas Masikonde carried the day.

The budding party also clinched victory in Kisa East wards in Khwisero, where Dickson Okwiri Aduda was declared the winner.

Gachagua described the victories as a major statement for his seven-month-old party, hailing its statement win from the “newest kid on the block.”

“Our party, making the newest kid in the Block, which is seven months old, whitewashed old parties, some as old as twenty years,” he stated.
