Malalah delighted as DCP marks its first anniversary
Former Senator Cleophas Malalah has expressed excitement as he joined celebrations marking the first anniversary of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Wednesday, May 15, 2026, Malala reflected on the journey of the party over the past year, noting its growth from a new political formation into what he termed a strong and expanding political voice in the country.
He highlighted the party’s progress, saying it has continued to grow in influence and presence across different parts of Kenya, attracting support and building momentum since its inception.
Malalah further described the party’s first year as a period marked by struggle, hope, and development, emphasising its commitment to representing the interests of ordinary citizens.
The DCP anniversary celebrations come as the party leadership continues to position itself within the country’s evolving political landscape ahead of future elections.
“One Year of DCP: A year ago, we dreamed and dared; we conceived, we created, and we carried forth the Democracy for the Citizens Party: a covenant born for the common good. From a whisper to a wind, from a spark to a flame, DCP came alive, took root, and rose in name,” he said.
“It grew to thrive in leaps and bounds, echoing across Kenya’s towns and grounds. Today, that child of courage stands tall and free, Kenya’s largest voice and the people’s desire. One year of struggle, one year of grace, one year of hope etched on time’s face. Skiza Wakenya, Yours truly, Sen. Cleophas Malalah, Deputy Party Leader”

On the other side, the former deputy president and DCP party leader has hailed his party for its exemplary performance in the recently concluded by-elections in Emurua Dikir, saying that DCP, which is hardly a year old, has given Ruto a run for his money in the mini-poll

DCP official launch
The DCP Party was unveiled in 2025 after several months of anticipation.

It was later scheduled for its official launch on June 3, but the event was postponed to June 15 and was again cancelled by the management of the Kasarani Indoor Arena due to Chan games preparations, with the booking fee that had been paid by the DCP Party refunded.

At that time, the party decried the move, saying the state was attempting to muzzle the activities of other parties and silence dissent.
Later, the party leader, Gachagua, also stated that the official launch of the DCP Party would take place in one of the Maa counties, a plan that has not yet materialised to date, and the party is yet to be officially launched.
