Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga expressed the view that the Mt. Kenya Region made a mistake by aligning with the UDA to form a government without having a distinct political party.

During his appearance on Milele FM on Monday morning, Njenga pointed out that other regions, such as Nyanza, Rift Valley, and Eastern, have their parties led by Raila Odinga, William Ruto, and Kalonzo Musyoka, respectively, and they are unified in their political positions.

Maina Njenga on lack of party

In contrast, he noted that the Mt. Kenya Region lacks a cohesive party.

Tulifanya (Mt Kenya) makosa sana kuingia kwa serekali ya kenya kwanza bila chama.” (We (Mt Kenya) made a mistake by initially entering the Kenyan government without a party.),” he said.

Ukiangalia Baba ameeka wajaluo wote kwa mfuko moja. Wote wanakaa kwa ODM, Rift Valley, William amekusanya wakale wote wanaongea kwa sauti moja,” (Wiper unaona Kalonzo amepanga kazi vizuri sana.(If you look at how the Baba (Raila Odinga) has grouped all the Luos together. They all support ODM. In Rift Valley, William (Ruto) has united the region who speak with one voice. Wiper, you can see how Kalonzo (Musyoka) has organized things very well.) he added

Asked where Jubilee ranks as a Mt Kenya Party, Njenga said the party was not as powerful as it was and they are looking for a stronger party.

Jubilee iko lakini ni kama haiko. Tunakata kitu itaunganisha watu wote. Unajua vile Uhuru alitoka akafanyia kazi inje kidogo ikaonekana ni kama imerudi chini kidogo. Tunataka nguvu mpya na tunajipanga na tuonaomba Mungu atupe Nguvu na hekima,” (Jubilee is there, but it seems like it’s not. We need something that will unite all the people. You know when Uhuru worked away from the party, and it seemed the party dropped. We want a new force, and we are preparing ourselves and praying to God for strength and wisdom.) he revealed.

Maina Njenga on attracting crowds

When questioned on how he attracts large crowds in the region, he stated that the region has a ‘loud voice’ and almost 80% are listening to him.

Na ni kama nikisema kitu wananisikiliza,” (Mount Kenya’s voice is loud because we’ve been working on uniting Kenyans for a long time. We understand each other, every village has friends, every region. I can say that now about 80% of the people of Mount Kenya listen to me. And when I say something, they listen.), he concluded.
