Council of Governors leadership: List of committees’ chairpersons
The Council of Governors (CoG) has unveiled the list of chairpersons of various committees appointed on Saturday, September 17, 2022.
In the exercise done moments after the Governors’ and Deputy Governors’ induction workshop in Mombasa, Mutula Kilonzo Jnr of Makueni County was appointed to chair the Legal, constitutional Affairs and Intergovernmental Relations Committee.
Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa was appointed as the Finance, Planning and Economics Affairs Committee.
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja will head the Human Resource, Labour and Social welfare committee.
Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti will chair the Trade, Industry and Enterprise Development Committee.
The Education Committee will be headed by Kericho Governor Erick Mutai while Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o will head the Lands, Housing and Urban Development Committee.
West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin will be the chair of the Gender, Youth, Culture, Sports and Social Services Committee.
His Taita Taveta counterpart, Andrew Mwandime will chair the Water, Forestry and Natural Resources Management Committee while Muthomi Njuki of Tharaka Nithi will head the Health Committee.
Similarly, Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka was appointed as the chair of the Agriculture, Livestock and Cooperatives Committee.
Tana River Governor Dhadho Godhana will chair the Security and Foreign Affairs whereas Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntuntu will head the Tourism and Wildlife Committee.
Also, Kiambu Governor Kiman Wamatangi will be the head of the Energy, Roads, Transport and Infrastructure Committee, while his Garissa counterpart Nathif Jama will chair the Arid, Semi-Arid Lands (ASAL) and Disaster Management Committee.
Embu Governor will be the head of the Resource Mobilization and Partnership Committee and Vihiga Governor Wilber Ottichilo will head the Environment and Climate Change Committee.
The Blue Economy will be chaired by Lamu Governor Issa Timamy while the ICT and Knowledge Management Committee will be headed by Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Wisley Rotich.
