‘Let him vent’ – Sossion tells President Ruto not to answer Gachagua after scathing attacks
Formerly nominated Senator Wilson Sossion has downplayed the verbal attacks directed at President William Ruto from impeached Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaking during his appearance on a local TV show on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Sossion pointed out that attacks towards President Ruto and his administration are being peddled by people hell-bent on tarnishing the government’s image and with their own agenda to pursue.
The former ODM-allied figure further termed Gachagua as a bitter politician after his fallout with Ruto and subsequent impeachment from the government in 2024.
Sossion has thus called on the president not to be sidetracked by the voices of distraction and instead focus on his development plans.
“The scathing attacks from Rigathi are expected. He is bitter, and it’s natural. Let him vent. The fact is the president is in office courtesy of the people of Kenya and the commitment he made to them. He should not bend to every whim of the people. The president should focus on his agenda. The indicators that the government is working and no amount of attacks can refute that,” Sossion said.
Sossion also challenged the opposition to focus on issue-based politics and not resort to calling out the government for the sake of.
The legislator further downplayed the confluence of opposition politicians at Monday’s DAP-K party unveiling event, terming it a non-issue.
“It is a group of Kenyans who hold no office. They are free to meet again even tomorrow. It’s within our constitution for people to exercise their rights. It shouldn’t be a big issue, and I’m not reading too much into it, he said.
The remarks come after Gachagua has maintained his attacks on President Ruto. The former DP accused the president of lies and unfulfilled promises.
Gachagua also recently tore into his policy and a recent tour of the western region.
Speaking on Monday, January 27, 2024, during the launch of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) new headquarters in Karen, Nairobi, Gachagua called out Ruto for corruption and termed his administration as a government of lies.
“In matters of incompetence, Mr President, I tend to agree with you to a certain extent. Serikali yako ni ya uwongo, kutenga, kudanganya watu. Uliandika mkataba na watu wa Western ukasema utajenga 1000km, hujajenga. Umekuwa hapo juzi unafungua transformer. Mimi ulitaka nikusaidie kudanganya Wakenya, in matters kudanganya Wakenya I am incompetent, I accept,” Gachagua said.
