Lesuuda: Same law that protected Uhuru rebels should apply to Orwoba
Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda has weighed in on the dramatic ouster of Gloria Orwoba from the Senate, urging consistency in the application of the law across political divides.
Taking to her official X account on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, just hours after Orwoba was blocked from accessing Parliament and had her car impounded weeks after her expulsion as a nominated senator by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Lesuuda accused political actors of selective application of rules.
Political discipline laws
She noted that many nominated senators in the last Parliament openly defied the parties that had sponsored them, often opposing then-President Uhuru Kenyatta and his policies, yet they were allowed to serve their full terms without harassment.
“Gloria Orobwa may have defied her party, but let’s not be hypocritical; many nominated senators in the last parliament openly went against the parties that nominated them, opposing then-President Uhuru and his policies, yet served full terms. Two wrongs don’t make a right. What’s good for the goose must always be good for the gander, regardless of which side one is on,” Lesuuda stated.
She emphasised that laws governing political discipline must be applied impartially and not twisted to suit the interests of the government of the day.
“Tuwache selective amnesia! If it’s about the law, then read it and follow it regardless,” she wrote on X.

Orwoba Senate drama
Orwoba’s vehicle was towed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, after she used it to block the Senate gate.
The incident occurred shortly after she was denied access to the Senate, despite citing a court order that she claimed temporarily reinstated her to her position.
Orwoba was seen attempting to prevent the tow truck from taking her vehicle, struggling to dismantle the chains securing it, but her efforts proved futile.
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale tried to intervene and calm the situation, though his efforts did not succeed.
Orwoba continued to push back against the enforcement team as they towed away her white Land Cruiser Prado, but the standoff ended unsuccessfully.
The confrontation ended with three female police officers manhandling her and escorting her away from the scene.
