Ledama Olekina to Kisumu residents: Crowds mean nothing without votes
Narok Senator Ledama Olekina has thrown his weight behind President William Ruto’s visit to Kisumu County, describing the huge crowd witnessed as a joke without a vote ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a post on his official X account on Friday, January 30, 2026, Ledama begged Kisumu residents to not only register as voters but instead go out and vote come August 2027 general elections.
“Umati mkubwa bila kura ni mchezo tu! 2027 mpige kura na TUMALIZI hii kazi—GAME OVER. Kujiandikisha SI kura. Ruto alipokuja Leo tulisherehekea na tukaamua tutembe pamoja…Sasa kupiga Kura ndio utamu. Kisumu Donge!,” Ledama wrote.

Ruto’s Kisumu visit
Ledama’s remarks come just moments after President William Ruto shared a detailed explanation of why Kisumu residents desire to be part of the Kenya Kwanza regime.
Taking to his official X account on Friday, January 30, 2026, Ruto outlined key factors, including opportunities for each household.
On his part, Ruto, who visited and engaged with the residents of Kisumu in Kondele and Kisumu City detailed how the people of Kisumu were clear in their voices.
According to the President, the residents want development, prosperity, and opportunities that reach every household and every neighbourhood.
“The people of Kisumu are clear in their voice: they want development, they want prosperity, and they want opportunity that reaches every household and every neighbourhood,” Ruto said.
“They want to belong to a government that lifts all people and leaves no region behind. We are determined to build that future together,” he explained.
He went on to explain that his collective mission is to build a united and inclusive nation where every community has a voice, every region has value, and every citizen has a stake in our shared destiny.
“Our collective mission is a united and inclusive nation, where every community has a voice, every region has value, and every citizen has a stake in our shared destiny,” he said.
“Engaged with the residents of Kisumu at Kondele and Kisumu City. Thank you, Kisumu for your welcome, your energy, and your faith. I love you,” he added.
