Kisii governor aspirants pledge better healthcare

Kisii county gubernatorial candidates on Monday pledged to improve healthcare if elected to succeed outgoing governor James Ongwae next month.
The candidates who were participated in a debate a local radio station used the Jubilee party candidate Chris Obure pledged to automate medical supplies across the county’s health facilities to curb theft of drugs and health care services.
“The hallmark of my administration will be consultation. The health workers will give ideas and solutions so that their plight can be addressed,” he said during a debate for governorship candidates on Sunday.
The former senator said he will direct managers of health facilities to ensure health workers offer free consultation services to patients who cannot afford to buy books for prescriptions, return home and die, stressing such deaths can be prevented. He pledged to ensure access clean water to enhance sanitation, reduce waterborne diseases and costly treatments which burden residents.
Manson Oyongo, contesting on a Kenya National Congress ticket said he will use an Information and Technology system to track the dispensation of drugs to curb theft.
Senator Sam Ongeri, contesting on Democratic Action Party of Kenya said he will buy adequate drugs for the health facilities and motivate the health workers to offer efficient and effective services.
